Facebook Ads – A big FU to Flyer Advertisers.

A few days ago we discussed some of the terms and polices of Facebook Flyer ads.

We are going to expand on this discussion and observe the double standards Facebook is pulling when it comes to serving Ads by its Facebook Flyer users and serving Ads sent forth by Mighty Microsoft.
According to Facebooks' demographic information I am an unemployed 30 year old male. This means that I a prime target for crap home online degree courses. A Huge money maker in the affiliate world. Unfortunately according to Facebook Flyers Terms and Conditions, I am not allowed to advertise such things on Facebook.

Microsoft however is. Every other damn Ad I see served up by the MSN banner engine is for that non-accredited college crap. The EXACT same ad that gives 32.00 per lead on Hydra.

So what does this mean?

It means that the cock(rooster) don't know what the balls(eggs) are doing.

The Facebook Flyer team seems to be a semi-motivated and fairly competent bunch of 20 somethings eating sushi in Palo Alto who have been given a PRIME Directive by LEADER ZUCK to clean up the advertisements on Facebook Flyer and make sure that people know how to capitalize, use proper punctuation and target their ads correctly. (Believe me if you put in one irrelevant keyword to your ad, then out you go)

However all the while this crack team is spending thousands of hours at $30 an hour cleaning up their little garden of flyer Ads, is the Microsoft Adserving machine that just drops in there with whatever big. ugly and targeted banner ad it damn pleases. Take this photo for case in point.

Facebook Ads just cant get it right.

If you notice in the upper portion you will see that it is the user view of a Facebook profile of a bearded male. Then you notice in the left hand corner the MSN served Cover Girl Lipstick Ad.

Do I look like I need Mascara? Come on guys, if you are going to put all that effort into cleaning up your user Advertising, put a little onto the big MSN. just before they overvalued you doesn't mean that they can ream you.

But it gets better take a look at this ad.

Facebook Ads - Double Standards

* This is a MSN served Banner Ad from University of Phoenix. They are a well known internet spammer and offer online college courses. That seems ok and somewhat relevant no?
* But then Wait. Taking a look at my Handy Facebook terms and conditions for Advertising that I see taped to my wall I read

CONTENT Restrictions

What is that last one? Web based non-accredited colleges that offer degrees? Well according to the above Ad - it seems that University of Phoenix is advertising itself as a Web based College that offers degrees.

So the summation is that the Facebook Flyer Team bans its users from advertising Web-Based colleges, but allows Microsoft to serve Ads for the exact same thing. Guess they just can't resist those 32.00 per lead commissions. Bet we will see ringtone banners from MSN soon as well.

If this bothers you as much as it bothers me. Then I encourage you to write about this on your own blog or to link in here. The only way we are going to get this changed is to sufficiently embarrass Facebook to stand up to MSN.
